Why is Pinterest a Valuable Resource for Real Estate Agents
There are so many social media platforms that one might wonder should I, as a realtor, be on all of them or if a certain one is even beneficial for my agency? I’m here to tell you not to give up on these social media such Pinterest for Real Estate. They all have their place in helping promote you and your real estate business.
Pinterest is one social media that is often overlooked by real estate agents due to it not bringing in large amounts of buyers and sellers. However, it is still a valuable resource for real estate agents to utilize.
There are 400 million monthly users on Pinterest, and 45% of the US Pinterest users make a household income of over $100k ( source : Pinterest Business Insights ). This is a large population that is available to be marketed to.
Benefits of Pinterest for Real Estate Agents
There are many reasons that Pinterest will benefit you, such as improving your online visibility and traffic to your other platforms. Having one more social media will help you reach potential clients that might not engage with you on your other real estate accounts. Especially in today’s day and age, when one is going to find a realtor, they will turn to the internet before they ever call an agent to find out about them.
1. Increases Digital Footprint
If you are active on Pinterest, it gives your potential clients information about buying, selling, and what your local community is. This might not determine whether they will hire you or not as their agent, but it will help them see that you know what you are doing in real estate.
2. Allows for Promoting Content on Other Platforms
When you are creating regular content, Pinterest is a great way to direct people to your website. You need a constant flow of traffic to your website for your quality content to have a chance of being shared. Content that is shared has a greater chance of appearing more easily in the search engine.
3. Shows Local Knowledge
Showing that you are the local expert helps increase your likelihood of getting a client in your desired community. Pinterest allows you to show off local places that might interest buyers. It also demonstrates that you are connected to the community and know where you are selling. When you are in real estate and are selling a house, you aren’t just selling the home but the community around it.

Pinterest for Real Estate
One of the big draws of Pinterest is that your pins won’t “expire.” The content won’t disappear into the background over time but will stay relevant. This is caused by people sharing and repinning content allowing it to appear on their followers’ pages, and so on.
As your followers gain more followers, your pins will be seen more. This means that your content needs to be of good quality to continue being shared and allow you to benefit without doing any more work except for posting it in the first place.
How to Optimize Your Pinterest Pins for Real Estate
Now that you know the benefits, you might be asking, “ok, so how do I optimize it, so it best benefits me.” One of the first significant tips is to have excellent graphics and images. Pinterest is a visual platform, so you need to make your pins visually pleasing and beautiful. This will give your pins a better chance of being repinned.
It is suggested that you create 2-3 pins relating to your blogs and any other content you are sharing on other platforms. Many different platforms can help you design impressive graphics.
However, my favorite and the one I use is Canva. Canva has both a free and paid version, and whichever account you choose will be great for creating all the media content you need as a realtor.

Posting Pinterest Pins
When you finally post a pin, don’t immediately share it with all your group boards. Instead, spread out your pin over time. This will allow it to reach more people. Start by posting it to one board of yours and a couple of group ones. Then start posting them to other group boards, not all simultaneously but over a couple of weeks.
Pinterest Boards and How to Use Them for Real Estate
Boards on Pinterest will also play a significant role in the engagement that you receive. One great way to utilize boards is to create local boards with pins of your listings and of places and events that happen nearby.
This can entice potential buyers, making them think to themselves: “I wish I lived near that park,” or “That market would be nice to go to on Saturdays.” The boards can be for neighborhoods, towns, and cities that are around your listings.
Just like local boards will help you reach your audience, group boards will also greatly benefit. They are beneficial because they help your pins reach a larger audience. This will allow your pin to be pinned more because it reaches more people.
Get Inspiration and Advice from Other Real Estate Agents
One way to see how to run a good Real Estate Pinterest is to follow agents that are already killing it. Always feel free to reach out to these realtors and ask questions about how they run their Pinterest. The worst thing they can say is, “no, they don’t want to answer your questions.”
